A suggested guide for your East African safari - individual needs may vary
What to Pack
If you are catching a small safari flight in Africa, you should be aware that the weight limit is often 15kg (33 lbs) per person – if your bags are heavier you may have to pay an excess luggage charge. Sometimes you may be able to get away with an extra kilogram or two, however, please use the above total as a guideline. Soft-sided bags are mandatory on light aircrafts.
- •Total Weight: 15 kg maximum per person (checked and carry-on combined).
- •Bag Type: Soft-sided bags, duffels, or rucksacks are mandatory. Hard-shell suitcases are not allowed because they cannot fit into the small aircraft baggage compartments.
- •Extra Space: If you need to bring more weight, you can ask us about booking an extra "freight seat" for heavy gear.

Packing Tips
Luggage Limit
Your luggage should also not exceed the strict weight limit, usually between 15kgs (33lbs) on bush flights. Use a soft-sided bag — no hard frames or wheels — as luggage compartments on light aircraft are very limited.
Neutral Colors
Choose neutral safari colors like green, khaki, and beige. Avoid bright colors on game drives.
Eco-Friendly
Kenya has banned plastic bags. Bring eco-friendly reusable bags. Small ziplock bags for toiletries are OK.
